The Best New Steakhouses in America [Details] |
The ICA (Institute of Contemporary Art) is located in a place the average person wouldn’t look. It’s steel and glass building juts out into the South Boston Harbor, a place formally filled with container shipping buildings. Now the area is filled with burgeoning modernization with cruise ships, hotels and residential condos dotting the skyline.
The ICA has four exhibits per year, with no permanent collection. The building’s interior is four stories of steel, glass and granite. The day we visited the entrance wall had a magnificent Manga-styled mural welcoming guests in. The $12 admission ($10 for students) is comparable to most art museums, although entering the ICA (as with most modern art museums) requires an open mind. (Free admission can be had on Thursday nights, as well for families on the last Saturday of the month.) If you the type that has issues with nudity be sure to check out the ICA website for what’s currently exhibiting. While visiting be sure to head to the fourth floor media room, it sticks out from the top of the building offering an amazing view of the harbor.
